Methane-Breathing Carnivore-Killer From Divad
“Divad, a world in the Corridor Sector, is inhospitable in the extreme. Not only are the hydrogen-methane atmosphere and rare hydrogen cyanide rainstorms hostile to most offworld life, but the average temperature on Divad is a balmy 193 degrees. As well, Divad is occupied by a hostile minor race known as the Brinn…”
— Exnet Nature Documentary
Brinn have evolved in a fantastically hostile environment to standard sophonts, and furthermore have evolved from the incredibly uncommon classification of carnivore/killer, making them doubly unique on the galactic scale. The Brinn breathe methane, not oxygen, and therefore require respiration apparatus to operate off-world in most cases, and drink hydrogen cyanide, a liquid which is rapidly fatal to humans and most other oxygen-breathing sophonts. As well, while capable of operating at temperatures of up to 20C (293K) for brief periods, the Brinn consider a temperature band of -80 to -20C (193 to 253K) to be comfortable. Therefore, Brinn often require cooling suits in addition to their respirators to function off of Divad’s surface.
